Does Your Resume Show Off Your Best Side?

Building your CV can be challenging, but we’ve got some helpful pointers to keep you on the right track!

Writing a strong CV is crucial to your career.  So we’ve prepared a few hints & tips for you to always put your best foot forward.

  1. Shake hands when you meet new people, especially when you meet your interviewer/s for the first time. This will create a great first impression and portray an honest, confident and positive reflection of your character.
  2.  Make eye contact with your interviewer! This is crucial to any conversation, never mind an interview. Keep good eye contact through the interview, but avoid entering a staring competition with the person at the other side of the table.
  3. Dress well. Dress smart and according to the role you have applied for. Perhaps this means wearing a power suit if it is a high level management job, or it’s just a smart shirt and trousers for a role that is a little more casual.
  4. Be punctual. If you’re not 10 minutes early, you’re late. That means, be seen to arrive at your interview ahead of time!
  5. Research the company. Have a look through the news to see what headlines they’ve made. Look through their website to find their values, current major projects, senior members of the company, etc. Make no mistake here, because they WILL ask questions to find out what you already know about the company.
  6. Prepare yourself to answer general questions for that job role. Use the STAR method to structure your answers.
